Democrat Susan Wild from Pennsylvania made comments about her concern over Biden’s electability following his performance at the first presidential debate.
During a recent call between House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and House Democrats, Congresswoman Susan Wild cited concerns about President Biden’s ability to be reelected in November.
The call was held for Jeffries to gauge ranking members’ opinions after Biden’s debate performance. Several members, including Congresswoman Wild, expressed concern about the Democratic ticket and Biden’s need to step down from the race.
After the call was reported on, Wild commented, “In a confidential conversation with other members of House Democratic leadership, I expressed the same concerns that Americans across the country – and here in my district – are grappling with, about President Biden’s electability at the top of the ticket.”
Representatives Mark Takano, Adam Smith, Jim Himes, Joe Morelle, and Jerry Nadler were also on the call with Jeffries and opposed Biden as the party’s nominee according to CNN sources. They share concern over Democrats losing their chance at the House majority should Biden be the party’s nominee.
Wild’s comments were made just five days after she hosted First Lady Jill Biden in Allentown, Pennsylvania for an event that promoted the Biden administration’s education and workforce development efforts. She refused to comment on Biden’s debate performance at the event.
