The fire broke out before daybreak on in Philadelphia Friday, September 13th, and continued to burn for hours before being contained.
A severe four-alarm fire tore through a commercial building in Northeast Philadelphia early Friday morning, causing extensive damage and displacing several businesses and neighbors. The fire, which started around 5:30 a.m. along Adams Avenue in the Frankford neighborhood and quickly escalated to a two-alarm response due to its intensity and the hazardous conditions it created.
Assistant Deputy Fire Commissioner Derek Bowmer said the fire impacted two commercial buildings, including an auto shop garage with several vehicles inside. Bowmer said the buildings were not occupied at the time of the fire.
About 150 firefighters using more than 57 pieces of equipment continued to battle the four-alarm blaze around 7:25 a.m., the Philadelphia Fire Department said.
The Philadelphia fire marshal’s office has said they will investigate the cause of the fire.
