Pennsylvania State Treasurer Stacy Garrity Announces Partnership to Save Money for Educational Expenses

The Pennsylvania Treasury Department has partnered with Gift of College.

Through a new partnership between the Pennsylvania Treasury Department and Gift of College announced by State Treasurer Stacy Garrity, the goal is to help Pennsylvanians purchase gift cards for educational savings programs.

Through the purchase of gift cards, Pennsylvanians will be able to support their loved ones’ savings through the PA 529 College and Career Savings Program and the PA ABLE Savings Program.

According to the Pennsylvania Treasury’s news release, the PA 529 College and Career Savings Program is a tax-advantaged way for families to save for educational expenses. The program is a top five 529 plan in the country.

The PA ABLE Savings Program is a tax-advantaged way for families to save for qualified disability expenses without impacting benefits, the Treasury said.

Also starting in January 2026, eligibility for PA ABLE will expand to allow individuals of any age to open an account if their disability occurred prior to age 46.

“I’m excited to expand the ways families can save and encourage others to take part in their savings journey through the Gift of College program,” Garrity said in the news release. “Providing the option for digital gift card purchases for contributions to PA 529 and PA ABLE is a new, simple, and fun way to give the gift of education and more to Pennsylvanians this holiday season.”

Through the partnership, Gift of College gift cards will be redeemable directly into PA 529 and PA ABLE accounts.

“We are thrilled that gift cards for PA 529 and PA ABLE accounts are now available throughout the great Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Every gift given is a contribution toward a brighter future,” said Wayne Weber, the CEO of Gift of College.

Gift cards can be purchased online at pa529.com/gift and paable.gov/gift
