Thousands braved cold temperatures to hear Trump’s plans on immigration, crime, and other issues critical to Pennsylvania.
With crime, immigration, and the economy top issues for Pennsylvanians, former President Trump held a rally to discuss his vision with Lehigh Valley voters.
Pennsylvania Treasurer Stacy Garrity, also up for election in 2024, opened for the former President, stressing the importance of the upcoming election.
“2024 is truly the most important election of our lifetimes. Every election that goes by that we don’t get Republicans in office, our state and our country get closer and closer to being lost,” she said to the cheering crowd.
As he settled into his remarks it became clear the main talking points would be crime, illegal immigration, foreign policy, and the economy.
Trump tore into Biden and his fellow Democrats, especially Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg, over their refusal to prosecute violent criminals in favor of prosecuting him.
“The violent crime murders, killings all of this stuff, muggings, and Bragg leaves them alone. When I do something that is not a crime when I go into court they’ve got like nine prosecutors. In the meantime, with people that murder, nobody does anything.” claimed Trump.
With border crossings in 2024 at record highs, and data showing illegal immigration is tied directly to preventable crimes, Trump threw jabs at Biden for his handling of the border crisis and the effect it’s having on crime rates in the United States.
“Job number one is going to be as soon as we take office, we will seal the border, we’re going to stop the invasion and send Joe Biden’s illegal aliens back down,”
Foreign policy regularly ranks as a low priority with American voters, but with Iran launching strikes on Israel earlier in the day, Trump took the opportunity to blast his challenger for his handling of current international affairs.
“God bless the people of Israel, they’re under attack right now, (and) that’s because we showed great weakness. It would not have happened if we were in office,” said Trump.
Before closing his remarks, Trump endorsed businessman Dave McCormick for the U.S. Senate.
