State Senator Greg Rothman Elected PAGOP Chair, Superior and Commonwealth Judicial Candidates Endorsed

The Republican Party of Pennsylvania selected a new Chairman and endorsed two judicial candidates for the Commonwealth.

State Senator Greg Rothman of Perry, Dauphin, and Cumberland Counties was elected Chairman of the Pennsylvania GOP. Rothman is the former county chairman in Cumberland County, which he described as “the hardest job in politics” in a recent interview

One of his main priorities will be increasing voter registration. He said, “Whether they’re hunters or social conservatives or free market people going to gun shows and going to the farm show. Those are the people who aren’t registered to vote. We get them to register to vote. That’ll be one of my main priorities.”

Another priority for Rothman as Chairman will be for a Republican candidate to win the governorship in 2026.

“We can bring people together and prepare a team that, when we do have the candidate for governor in 2026, we already have a team in place that can help drive out the voters and get people elected in November so we can beat Josh Shapiro.”

Rothman was endorsed by Senator Dave McCormick, who congratulated him, saying, “I’m so grateful for all the candidates who stepped forward. Unified together, we will work to implement President Trump’s agenda and make a difference for every single Pennsylvanian.”

In his interview, Rothman said of his relationship with McCormick, “I’m grateful for Dave McCormick… going to change the trajectory of Pennsylvania. We need a United States Senator who’s active in the party. Senator McCormick is interested in building the party.”

Rothman said of his new position, “I don’t intend to do it by myself. I need everybody involved and whether they’re brand-new Republicans that came in because of Donald Trump or they’ve been lifelong Republicans that have been toiling like I did for 40 years. They’re welcome to this party.”

Rothman won in a 248 to 120 vote. He assumes leadership of the state party after the Republican party won every statewide race and kept the majority in the State Senate.

At the national level, Republicans won the House, Senate, and Presidency with a conservative majority in the Supreme Court. Rothman has been a close ally of President Trump and will “be the ideal State chairman to unite the party and build on the success of Donald Trump’s election and promote Trump’s America First agenda.”

Bernie Comfort was named vice-chair of the Republican Party of Pennsylvania.

Following Chairman Rothman’s election to lead the Republican Party in the Commonwealth, the party endorsed statewide judicial candidates Judge Anne Marie Wheatcraft for Superior Court and Judge Matt Wolford for Commonwealth Court.
