VA Breaks Record for Claims Processed in a Single Year

The Department of Veterans Affairs announced they have processed a record number of claims so far in 2025.

Last week, the Department of Veterans Affairs announced it has processed a record 2.5 million ratings claim so far in fiscal year 2025.

This number of claims processed thus far in 2025 far surpasses the department’s former record for claims processed in a single year. Since President Trump’s inauguration in January, the Department of Veterans Affairs has seen a 37% reduction in pending claims.

“In fiscal year 2024, VA processed a total of 2,517,519 ratings claims, and this year the department reached an all-time high of 2,524,115 ratings claims issued Aug. 8 – nearly two months before the end of FY25,” the Department of Veterans Affairs said in a statement announcing the record.

“In July, VA completed more than 300,000 ratings claims in a single month for the first time ever. VA is processing claims faster in FY25 than in FY24, completing them 17.8% faster even as receipts are 10% higher than this time last year,” the statement continued.

During Trump’s second term in office, the president is continuing to prioritize care for veterans across the United States.

The Department of Veterans Affairs opened 16 new health care clinics across the country and has implemented reforms to deliver veterans the benefits they deserve.

The department is spending an additional $800 million on infrastructure improvements to make sure facilities can provide safe and effective patient care for veterans.

Many locations have begun offering appointments outside of normal operating hours. The department has offered nearly 1 million appointments to veterans during early-morning, evening, and weekend hours.

Thousands of department employees have also been brought back into the office to continue serving the nation’s veterans.

The department is also accelerating the deployment of its integrated electronic health record system that was once dormant for nearly two years in an effort to bring veterans the benefits they deserve in an efficient manner.
